Youth 7 on 7 Football

REGISTRATION AND COST

                Registration will be available online November 1, 2011

                Maximum 20 players per team (we suggest 12 minimum)

                Cost is $250 per team, 4 game guarantee

GAME CLOCK

                (2) 20 MINUTE RUNNING HALVES, 5 MINUTE HALFTIME

                15 MINUTES BETWEEN GAMES (MAY BE SHORTENED)

                NO TIMEOUTS EXCEPT FOR INJURIES

FIELD DIMENSIONS

                45 yards long with 10 yard end zone (30 yards for 5th grade and below)

                160 feet wide (60 ft to hash mark, 40 ft between)

                Field is marked by cones in 15 yard intervals

STARTING THE GAME

Teams should arrive no later than 30 minutes before game time

Visiting team will wear white and home team dark; all players will wear matching apparel, no school jerseys. Acceptable apparel is t-shirts, Under-Armour type shirts, personal jerseys or basketball type sleeveless jerseys with numbers on back.

MOUTHPIECES ARE MANDATORY. NO METAL SPIKES

Scheduled visiting team will have first possession, home team first possession second half

Each game and change of possession starts at right hash of 45 yard line (30 yd line for 5th grade and below

 

MOVING THE BALL

                No kicking or punting

                No running plays including QB

Play begins when ball is snapped to QB (all teams must have center)

All passes must be forward

QB has 4.0 seconds to throw ball across LOS

Offense has 3 downs to get 15 yards for first down (in the first 2-15 yard segments) 4 downs to score in final 15 yard segment

 

SPECIAL RULES

                No blocking          

Receiver/ball carrier is legally down when touched below the neck with one or both hands (no excessive force by shoving or pushing)

Fumbles are a dead ball at the spot with last team retaining possession; muffed snaps are not a fumble.

Each team will have 25 seconds to snap ball before a 5 yd delay of game penalty

The QB is allowed 4.0 seconds to throw the ball

Defensive pass interference is a spot foul, offensive is same as NCAA

Defense is responsible for avoiding contact

Interceptions are returnable, no blocking subsequent to interception

Offensive team is responsible for retrieving the ball and returning it to the previous spot or the new LOS, any delays will result in 5yd penalty

Offensive center is not an eligible receiver (can be any player).  Ball must be snapped thru center’s legs.  Center is responsible for re-positioning the Referee’s bean bag at line of scrimmage

One coach is allowed on the field for offense, must remain behind all offensive players (this applies to 8th grade and below, no coaches on field for 9th grade and above). No coaches on field for defense.

No taunting or “trash talking” allowed (5yd penalty and ejection if flagrant or repeated) No fighting, player(s) involved will be ejected, if team fight, the whole team will be ejected from tournament.

 

STRUCTURE AND AWARDS

The tournament will start in the morning with pool play and continue afterwards with bracket play.

Winner of the tournament will receive championship medals

Pool play tie breakers will be decided first by head-to-head play (2) teams tied, if 3 or more teams tied first by cumulative head-to-head record, second by point differential, third by points scored and last by coin toss.
