Over the past six seasons as Swashbucklers Head Coach Darnell Lee has build what is arguably the most storied indoor football franchise of all time. Coach Lee is back for his seventh season at the helm in 2012 to build on the Bucs winning tradition.  He is a winner, pure and simple. Coach Lee is one of the most successful coaches in the history of indoor football and looks to protect that tradition this upcoming season. His accomplishments are unmatched in the Southern region of indoor football. Under his leadership the Bucs have established a tradition of winning.  Lee has guided the Swashbucklers to five consecutive league championship games between 2007 and 2011.

Last season, the Bucs were a major underdog to the Houston Stallions in the Western Conference Championship. An upset of the then undefeated Houston Stallions lead to a third straight conference championship for the Bucs. The Bucs eventually lost the 2011 championship game to the Albany Panthers in front of a rabid Albany home crowd of 7,500 fans.

Darnell Lee has garnered four Coach of the year honors in his eight year career. He was IFL Coach of the year in ’06, ’07, ’08 and SIFL coach of the year in ’09.  Coach Lee is a graduate of East Ascension High School in Gonzalez Louisiana and played college football for the McNeese State Cowboys.   In addition to his head coaching duties for the Louisiana Swashbucklers Coach Lee is the athletic director and head football coach at Northwestern High School in Opelousas, La.  We are proud to have Coach Darnell Lee as part of the Swashbuckler family. His accomplishments as coach to date are undisputed but there is much more to be done.  The squad is looking forward to the upcoming season, and the competitive challenges in front of them.

The Bucs open the 2012 season at home March 17 against the Alabama Hammers at the Lake Charles Civic Center.  The Swashbucklers are excited to be a part of the new “Professional Indoor Football League” for 2012.  The new league was formed to bring together the most stable, well managed indoor football organizations in the Southeast and Southwest.  The Bucs are a founding member of what will be the most exciting, competitive indoor football league that exists.  The Swashbuckler tradition is alive and well in Southwest Louisiana!” In 2012 the Bucs goal is to “Protect The Tradition!”
