WEEK 5 Player of the Week
Bartie, making his first start of the season as quarterback for the Louisiana Swashbucklers, is honored with Offensive Player of the Week. He completed 15 of 23 passes for 215 yards. He also threw 7 touchdowns, with no interceptions, in the Swashbucklers 89-26 victory over the Katy Ruff Riders last Saturday evening
In Lake Charles.

Damien Huren, the IFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2007, garnered his first award of the 2008 season being named Defensive Player of the Week. Huren led the Louisiana Swashbucklers defense with 9 tackles in the game, 8 of which were solo. He also intercepted 2 passes by the Ruff Riders QB and had 3 pass deflections. He was a standout player on a defense that held their opponent to 116 yards total offense for the game.

WEEK 8 Player of the Week
Defensive Player of the Week goes to Louisiana Swashbuckler John Paul Jones. Jones led the Swashbuckler defense with 6.5 tackles and 1 QB Sack. He also forced 2 fumbles in the win over the CenTex Barracudas, 82-21. This week the 5-0 Swashbucklers host the 1-3 Katy Ruff Riders in Lake Charles,Louisiana.

WEEK 13 Player of the Week
Defensive Player of the Week goes to Defensive Lineman John Paul Jones of the (9-0) Louisiana Swashbucklers. Jones led the Swashbucklers defensive effort with 5 tackles, all solo. He had 3 quarterback sacks and 4 tackles were for a loss totaling 29 yards. As if that was not enough, Jones also blocked a kick and recovered a fumble as the Swashbucklers knocked off the Odessa Roughnecks, 56-37. The Frisco Thunder (6-5) take their shot at the Swashbucklers this Saturday at the Lake Charles Civic Center.

WEEK 14 Player of the Week
Defensive Player of the Week goes to Defensive Back Damien Huren of the (10-0) Louisiana Swashbucklers. Huren showed why he is the reigning 2007 Defensive Player of the Year with 5 tackles and 2 Interceptions. The Louisiana Swashbucklers head over to play the Katy Ruff Riders (4-6) on Monday night at the Leonard Merrell Center in Katy.

WEEK 17 Player of the Week
Defensive Player of the Week goes to Defensive Lineman John Paul Jones of the (13-0) Louisiana Swashbucklers. Jones, a two time Defensive Player of the Week winner, spearheaded the Swashbucklers Defense in their victory over the Alaska Wild (5-8) last weekend. Jones had 2 quarterback sacks for a total of 15 yards, tying him for the IFL lead in sack for the season. He also broke up 2 passes and recovered a fumble. Jones’s presence was felt the most by blocking 3 field goal attempts, 2 of which were returned for Louisiana touchdowns. The Swashbucklers look to finish the season unbeaten as they travel to Corpus Christi, Texas to face the Hammerheads (10-3).

Louisiana Swashbuckler Kicker, Whitney Hillin, earned Special Teams Player of the Week. Hillin tied the IFL scoring from a kicker record with 16 points this past weekend, a mark he already has a share of. He was 10-12 on point after attempts, and 2-2 on field goals, the longest being a 50 yarder. Hillin is the IFL leader in FG %, PAT% and leads all kickers by scoring 106 points in 2008.
