SWASHBUCKLERS TEAM UP WITH PROJECT KNOW
LAKE CHARLES LA. – The Louisiana Swashbucklers are going to kickoff Mardi Gras on Tuesday, February 16th, with a special event. Project KNOW Underage Drinking is teaming up with the Bucs to bring awareness of underage drinking to the Southwest Louisiana community. Did you know that kids who drink alcohol before age 15 are four times more likely to have addiction problems? In 2006, underage drinking cost the nation $61.9 billion dollars and cost Louisiana over a billion dollars alone. It’s a problem everyone needs to be concerned about.
Project KNOW will have an alcohol and tobacco free zone in the area of Pithon and Kirby Streets in downtown Lake Charles for Mardi Gras. This will allow families and teenagers to enjoy the day’s activities and to watch the Krewe of Krewes Parade. From 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. members of the Swashbucklers indoor football team and the FirstMates cheerleaders will be in person to sign autographs and meet with the fans. The Bucs wish everyone a happy and safe Mardi Gras holiday.
Join the Swashbucklers on Saturday, March 20th, when the season begins as the Houston Lightning comes to the Smuggler’s Den. Tailgating begins at 5 PM, doors open at 6 PM, kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM. Come cheer the Bucs on to victory as the team begins its defense of the Southern Indoor Football League championship. |
